As the series evolved, the sleek, recognisable, geometric font remained the same, but the original glass effect was lost in favour of a more modern clean flat look. The heart remained an iconic motif, which was remade with more glitzy particle effects as a 4k animation. Below you can see how the logo has evolved from the original 3D design, then incorporating the neon sunset look for the spin off shows, before settling into its current look.
EVOLVING THE LOGO VIBE
ITV Studios revamped and reworked the Love Island format in 2015, and asked Potion Pictures to design a new logo and title sequence. Early on, it was decided to use the motif of a snow globe being shaken up to reflect the romantic lives inside the villa. Potion used visual effects to turn the globe into a heart shape, and the text was given a glossy, glassy 3D sheen.
Love Island is the ITV2 dating show that has taken over screens all over the world
The format continued to grow and grow and Potion designed new title cards for the show’s spin off shows. We also put together a 31 page branding document for the show’s international producers to keep a consistent and high quality style across all versions of the format having sold in 24 territories across the world.
